About the event

Carol Arias Castellon, Director, Florida Institute of Government

Founded by the Florida Legislature in 1981 and established at FAU in 1982, the IOG’s mission is to enhance the capacity of Florida governments through affordable, high-quality training, technical assistance, organizational development, and applied research. Serving eight counties in Southeast Florida, the FAU IOG helps thousands each year improve skills, modernize processes, and meet rising compliance and transparency expectations.

This presentation will offer:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at how the IOG operates and how its statewide mandate supports local and regional needs.

  • Insight into its specialized programs—including public records management training, open-enrollment workshops, on-site custom courses, and agency-specific technical assistance.

  • Examples of real impact, drawn from the more than 2,000 workshops and 300 technical-assistance projects the Institute has coordinated in recent years.
